As Managing Principal of the firm, Mr. Smith serves as Chief Executive Officer. In addition, Mr. Smith oversees client relationships, assists in new business development efforts, and works directly with many of Trust Company's not-for-profit clients. Mr. Smith, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, has over twenty years of experience in the financial services and wealth management industry. Mr. Smith joined Trust Company after an eight year career with a number of closely held businesses in the fields of commercial finance and real estate development. Mr. Smith currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Elon University and the Executive Board of the Piedmont Triad Partnership, a regional economic development organization. He also serves as the Treasurer of the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation, the host organization for the Wyndham Championship, a PGA tour event.

Bill graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Economics (1988) and the College for Financial Planning (1999). Bill and his wife, Sue, have one child and live in Greensboro.

Mr. Eich, a Certified Public Accountant and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, has over seventeen years of experience in the tax and personal financial planning industry. Mr. Eich serves as co-managing principal of the Charlotte office where he is primarily responsible for providing integrated wealth management counsel and solutions for our clients. Prior to joining Trust Company, Mr. Eich worked in the Personal Financial Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. Mr. Eich graduated magna cum laude from Alfred University with a B.S. in Accounting and studied at The London School of Economics.

Mr. Eich is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Charlotte Estate Planning Council, the Charlotte Financial Planning Association, and is a past member of the Foundation for the Carolinas Professional Advisors Cabinet. He is currently a board member of The First Tee of Charlotte and a steering committee member and past committee chair of the Queens University Estate Planners Day.

Jay and his wife, Lindsey, have two children. They are all active members in their church where he has served as a founding member. Jay is also a baseball and football coach through various local youth organizations.

Mr. Noble is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® with over twenty-nine years of experience in the financial service and wealth management industries. As Trust Company’s Senior Raleigh Principal, Mr. Noble's primary responsibilities include overall business development efforts and head of client relations.

Prior to joining Trust Company, Mr. Noble worked with Centura Banks, Inc. and Trident Financial Corporation as an officer and (series 7, 63 and 24) NASD registered securities principal. Mr. Noble's experience includes the management of initial public offerings, merger transactions for major financial institutions, and the development and implementation of investment and wealth management strategies for individuals and institutions throughout North Carolina. Mr. Noble is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1984) and The Southeastern Trust School of Campbell University (2000).

Mr. Noble currently serves as Chairman of the North Carolina Awards selection committee, which is presented by the Governor as the highest honor that can be bestowed on a North Carolina citizen. He also has been an active member or has served on the board of several professional and charitable organizations including The First Tee of the Triangle, Nash Community College Foundation, Eastern Carolina Estate Planning Council, The Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina, and the Cub Scouts of America. Bill's wife, Terry, is the co-founder and president of Animal Crackers, a not-for-profit organization that promotes and supports responsible pet ownership. Bill and Terry have three children.

Mr. Paul, a Certified Public Accountant, has over twenty-five years of experience in the financial services and wealth management industry. Based in our Greensboro office, he is primarily responsible for providing integrated wealth management counsel and solutions for our clients.

Prior to joining Trust Company, Mr. Paul was a Managing Director in the Raleigh office of U.S. Trust Company.  He was part of the National Multi-Family Office Group, responsible for delivering holistic and integrated solutions to meet the complex, multi-generational needs of wealthy individuals and families.  Before joining U.S. Trust Company in 2005, he was a partner and member of the Management Committee at The Todd Organization where he was responsible for all aspects of client service and managed a staff of over 60 professionals.  Prior to that, he spent eight years at Arthur Andersen & Co. in the tax division.

Mitchell graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Business Administration (with a concentration in Accounting) in 1984.

Mitchell and his wife, Amy, have three children.

Mr. Sutherland is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves as Board Chair of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western NC and has also volunteered his time at Levine Children's Hospital.

Chris and his wife, Amy, have three children. They are all active members in their church where Chris has served as Treasurer and Outreach Coordinator for his Sunday school class. Chris is also a basketball and soccer coach through various local youth associations.

Mr. Sutton joined Trust Company in 2000 upon graduating from UNC-Charlotte with a B.S. in Business Administration. As Director of Operations, his responsibilities include strategic development, management and oversight of all areas of the operations and client services departments, including serving as the liaison with the Company's primary service providers. In addition, Mr. Sutton also oversees and manages Trust Company's correspondent banking relationships, in which Trust Company provides operations support to third party banks.

Mr. Sutton is an active member of the Innotrust Users Group, an organization of financial professionals using the Innotrust trust accounting platform provided by Innovest Systems, having previously served in the roles of president and treasurer of this organization. Mr. Sutton has completed the Cannon Financial Institute Securities Operations I & II courses.

Ms. Williams, a Certified Public Accountant, serves as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Williams joined Trust Company after an eight year career in public accounting, and several years as a controller in a not-for-profit organization. She graduated with High Distinction from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Economics in 1987. She received a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1990, and received an Elijah Watt Sells certificate in recognition of outstanding performance on the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination that same year.

Wallace is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. She and her husband, Greg, have two children. She is very active in her church, having served in a number of positions, including Chair of the Finance Committee.

Leah Jane joined Trust Company’s Raleigh office in May 2017 as a Client Services Officer. She carries the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor and began her wealth management career at UBS Financial Services. Leah Jane is responsible for client relationship and account administration, including assistance with financial planning and asset management.

A native of Charlotte, Leah Jane moved to the area to attend NC State University where she received a degree in Communication. Leah Jane and her husband Dustin live in Raleigh with their two dogs and enjoy cooking and gardening together in their free time.

After receiving his business degree from Furman University, John began his career on the retail brokerage side of the securities industry, specializing in Client Service and Sales Support. John, a native of Charlotte, joined Trust Company of the South in 2013 as a Client Services Officer in the Charlotte office. He is responsible for overseeing the administration of client relationships, including assistance with trading, tax returns, distributions, and asset management.

Lou’s career spans forty years in the banking industry, with a background in client service, management and compliance. She joined TCTS in March 2017 as the Client Services Manager for the Greensboro, Raleigh and Charlotte offices, and is based out of the Greensboro office. Lou’s responsibilities include managing the client services team, daily account administration and assisting clients with various transactions.

Leslie has spent the majority of her career in Business Administration and Human Resources. In 2010, Leslie joined Trust Company as a Client Services Officer. She currently works in our Greensboro office, and her responsibilities include new client account setup, routine account administration, assisting clients with distributions, deposits, charitable gifting and client account transfers. She also assists with estate administration matters and monthly client  reviews.

Cathy has spent the majority of her career in patient and client services. In 2013, Cathy joined Trust Company as a Client Services Officer. She currently works in our Greensboro office, and her responsibilities include executing client transactions and assisting clients with distributions, deposits, charitable gifting and routine account administration as well as assistance in new client account set up and client account transfers. She also assists the Operations team with daily data entry.

After graduating from UNC-Greensboro with a business degree, Gail worked as a flight attendant for US Air before taking time off to spend with her children. Upon re-entering the work force, she spent several years as Financial Assistant at a private Christian school in Greensboro, and joined the Client Services team in our Greensboro office in 2015. She is responsible for opening new accounts, setting up fees and statements as well as assisting clients with distributions and charitable gifts.

Robin began her finance career in 1993 working for a private family owned real estate developer and has specialized in serving high net worth families and business owners ever since. A native of Louisville KY, and a graduate of St. Mary's College, Robin and her family relocated to the Charlotte area with TIAA-CREF in 2005, and she joined Trust Company in 2008. In addition to overseeing the daily administration of Charlotte client accounts, Robin assists with trust administration and asset management.

Mr. Bridgeman serves as the Compliance Officer for Trust Company, and is based in the Raleigh office. Michael is responsible for assuring compliance with North Carolina banking rules and regulations, as well as sound fiduciary practices. Michael is a Certified Fiduciary and Investment Risk Specialist™ and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial and wealth management industry. Prior to joining Trust Company, Michael worked at State Employee’s Credit Union as Vice President of Trust Company Compliance & Administration.

Michael holds a B.A. from NC State University; a MMC from the University of Georgia; and an MBA from Gardner-Webb University. Michael is an Honor Graduate of Cannon Financial Institute’s Trust Audit, Compliance, & Risk Management School, and a member of the Fiduciary and Investment Risk Management Association.

Jonathan serves as the relationship manager for Trust Company’s Raleigh office and is the firm’s Director of Financial Planning and a Principal of the firm. He is primarily responsible for providing integrated wealth management counsel and solutions for our clients. Prior to joining Trust Company, Jonathan worked in the Wells Fargo Private Bank and in the Personal Financial Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.

Jonathan is a Certified Public Accountant and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of CPAs, and the Raleigh Financial Planning Association. Jonathan graduated magna cum laude from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Economics and an M.S. in Accounting. He also holds an MBA degree from the East Carolina University College of Business.

As Chief Operating Officer, Matthew is responsible for establishing and enhancing Trust Company's operational controls, procedures and people systems, ensuring the continued financial strength and efficiency of the company. He plays a critical role in helping to shape and guide the firm’s strategic growth and development. Matthew, a Principal, also manages client family relationships and several not-for-profit client relationships.

Prior to joining Trust Company in May 2014, Matthew was a Director at HanesBrands focused on mergers and acquisitions and strategic initiatives; an Associate at Five Points Capital (formerly BB&T Capital Partners) where he sourced, diligenced, and executed transactions, and managed portfolio companies; and an Analyst at Wells Fargo Securities (formerly Wachovia Securities) where he provided debt financing services to middle market clients. Matthew started his career with Grant Thornton and has also served on Young Life staff.

Matthew, a Certified Public Accountant, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Business Administration (2001) and a Master of Accounting (2002). Matthew and his wife, Catherine, have two children and live in Winston-Salem.

Scott is a native of Charlotte and a Certified Public Accountant.  He graduated cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.S. in Business Administration in 2009 and a Masters of Accounting in 2011. Prior to joining the Trust Company in 2015, Scott worked with a large local public accounting firm specializing in tax services for high net worth individuals and closely-held businesses.

Dan graduated magna cum laude from Saint Bonaventure University in 2001. His earlier work experience included time with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a financial analyst. Prior to joining Trust Company, Dan was a vice president at Smith Breeden Associates working in performance measurement. He earned his CFA charter in 2007, and joined the Trust Company in 2008. Dan, a Principal, is responsible for developing investment strategy and managing client portfolios.

Westray has over fifteen years of experience advising clients in the areas of estate, generation-skipping transfer and gift tax planning, business succession planning, asset protection, income tax planning and estate and trust administration. A Principal of the firm, she also advises non-profits on formation and compliance issues as well as individuals on the implementation of charitable giving. Westray is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell Law Directory, which is the highest quality and ethics rating possible for attorneys, and has been recognized in Business North Carolina Magazine’s “Legal Elite” for Tax and Estate Planning. Prior to joining Trust Company, Westray practiced law with Poyner Spruill LLP in their trusts and estates group.

Westray graduated with honors from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in psychology (1990). She received her Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University where she was a Notes and Comments Editor for the Law Review.

Westray and her husband, Glenn, have two sons and live in Raleigh. She is a member of the Wake County Estate Planning Council, teaches Sunday school and is an active participant at her sons’ school.
